Jeffrey Kraus

Jeffrey Kraus has been an active percussionist and drummer since his teenage years. He has performed for and worked with such diverse artists as Lucas Foss, John Cage, Milton Babbitt, Tony Bennett, Max Roach and Aretha Franklin, Jeff worked with Frank Zappa in a tribute to Egard Varese, performing and assembling the percussionists for a performance of " Ionization " and other works. Perhaps his most rewarding experience was a twenty year relationship with Dave Brubeck as timpanist, drummer- percussionist and contractor. Mr. Kraus is on the faculty of Manhattan School of Music Pre-College and United Nations International School. Recording credits include an award winning recording of Virgil Thompson's " Four Saints in Three Acts" and numerous premiers on Columbia, Phillips and Opus One. Jeff has a Masters from Manhattan School of Music and has studied with Jim Preiss, Paul Price, Fred Hinger, David Friedman, Charles Perry, Frank Malabe and Glen Velez.
