Welcome

Welcome to the UNIS Private Lesson Program. We are thrilled to have you join, or continue, with our program for the 2021-2022 school year. Please review the policies and offerings on our website, and review the information below to better understand our program.

  • Private instruction is offered at additional cost to parents here at UNIS for grades J1-T4. Students from M2-T4 who participate in one of the UNIS ensembles (all except piano, voice & guitar) are required to take private lessons to strengthen their musical abilities.
  • UNIS families who participate in the private lesson program have the added convenience of having lessons right on the school’s campus. For families interested in remaining remote, virtual lessons are also offered.
  • UNIS encourages students participate in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and New York State Schools’ Music Association (NYSSMA) performance exams, held in the spring.
  • All of the specialist music teachers are hired for their skill as performers and their experience in working with young musicians. They are graduates of some of the finest music schools including Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, New York University, Brooklyn College, School for Strings, and Teachers' College. Our teaching artists also perform regularly with groups such as the New York Chamber Ensemble, New Jersey Symphony, Adele, Dave Brubeck Orchestra, Brooklyn Philharmonic, American Symphony Orchestra and in Broadway pit orchestras.

We are extremely fortunate to have world-class performing artists teaching our students. In their lessons, each teacher instills a sense of highly specialized music techniques, performance skills, and most of all, a passion for music. We look forward to creating music together.

If you are interested in registering for private lessons or have any further questions about the private lesson program, please reach out to Emily Reineke, Performing and Visual Arts Administrator, at ereineke@unis.org
