Diana Golden
New York City-based cellist Diana Golden is a multidimensional artist who performs with chamber ensembles, symphony orchestras, and musical theater and opera companies. She serves as Assistant Principal Cellist of New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, and enjoys regular engagements with American Ballet Theatre, American Symphony Orchestra, Distinguished Concerts International New York, and Bronx Arts Ensemble.
Equally eager to explore collaborations within musical theater, pop, and commercial music, Golden has collaborated with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Deltron 3030, Michael Bolton, Victory Boyd and Infinity Song, Celtic Woman, Mannheim Steamroller, Julian Kerins, Harlem Gospel Choir, and The Irish Tenors. She has performed for the feature documentary film After Sherman with music by Tamar-kali, and commercials for Offerup and the YMCA. Her recent involvement in other musical theater productions includes performing as a substitute cellist for Gypsy, performing with Off-Broadway shows such as Bettinger's Luggage and Anne Frank, and with Opera Saratoga and Williamstown Theatre Festival.
"Played with eloquent command," according to Strings Magazine, Golden's album Tanbou Kache (Hidden Drum) with pianist Shawn Chang for the New Focus Recordings label, celebrates Haiti's rich and fascinating tradition of art music.
As an active chamber musician, Golden has performed with the Metropolitan Cello Quartet, Percussia, Seven Hills Chamber Music, and MusicON Festival, as well as alongside violist Gregory K. Williams in the Golden Williams Duo, which focuses on collaborations with living composers. Golden is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Cello Performance at Long Island University (Post campus) and Molloy University, and a Cello Instructor at the United Nations International School.
Golden holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Cello Performance from Rutgers University, a Master of Arts in Cello Performance with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London, a Bachelor of Arts in English from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
